On December 20, 2020, the left bank dam of CHMC Laos Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Station, wholly reached 1046 m Design Height.

 

The designed Dam body is a roller compacted concrete gravity dam with 10 dam sections, the top height of the dam is 1046 m, the bottom height of the dam is 972 m, and the dam height is 74 m. The left bank of the Dam is from the dam section 1 to the dam section 5, with a total length of 110 m. It was first poured in October 2018 and lasted 26.5 months to reach the top.

 

In Year 2020, the new crown pneumonia outbreak suddenly, and the Dam construction once faced with shortage of equipment, personnel, material and many other difficulties. CHMC Project Department of Laos Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Station, overcame difficulties and took active measures to strengthen communication and coordination with the relevant Departments of the Lao government and became the only Project in Laos that didn’t stop work and stop construction, which effectively avoided the loss of shutdown, and guaranteed the progress of the Project. The left bank of the Dam reached the designed height as scheduled, which laid a solid foundation for the severe flood control work in Year 2021.
