On July 9, with the final batch of concrete placed into the pouring block of overflow surface of Dam Section No. 6, the main concrete works of the Tatay River Dam of Cambodian Upper Tatay Hydropower Station were fully completed 21 days ahead of schedule.

The main structures of Upper Tatay Hydropower Station include the Kep River Dam, Spillway, Water Conveyance and Power Generation System, Water Transfer Tunnel, and Tatay River Dam. The Tatay River Dam consists of a left-bank homogeneous earth-rock dam section, left-bank non-overflow gravity dam section, right-bank non-overflow gravity dam section, and a central riverbed overflow dam section. The Tatay River Dam measures 210.8 meters in length along its dam axis and stands 17 meters high. Once completed, the Dam will divert water from Tatay River to Kep River through the water transfer tunnel, thereby increasing the project’s power generation capacity.

The early completion of Tatay River Dam’s main concrete works marks the achievement of one of the 2025 milestone targets set at the beginning of the year, laying a solid foundation for the project’s upcoming reservoir impoundment. This accomplishment not only demonstrates the deep cooperation and mutual trust between China and Cambodia in the field of green energy, but also exemplifies CHMC’s professional capabilities in international engineering construction through “China speed” and “China standards”. Upon commissioning, the project will inject strong momentum into Cambodia’s low-carbon energy transition.
