On the morning of June 15, as the operating parameters of the 230kV GIS equipment, main transformers, and transmission lines showed normal, the 230kV system of the Cambodian Upper Tatay Hydropower Station, invested and constructed by CHMC, achieved a successful inverse power feeding on its first attempt. This marks that the station’s power transmission and transformation system is fully ready for grid connection, laying a solid foundation for subsequent unit startup and commissioning, grid-related testing, and full-scale commercial operation.

Prior to the inverse power feeding, the team conducted scientific planning and meticulous deployment, and strictly completed all electrical equipment handover tests, protection setting adjustments, and secondary circuit drive tests. Multiple safety and technical briefings were organized, and detailed operation tickets and emergency response plans were prepared. During the power feeding, operators strictly executed procedure protocols. All equipment, including GIS equipment, main transformers, and transmission lines, operated in good condition. The entire process was safe, smooth, and efficient, achieving the goal of successful inverse power feeding on the very first attempt.

The successful energization of the 230kV system resolves the station’s auxiliary power supply needs while verifying the reliability of both the power transmission project and internal electrical systems. Moving forward, upholding the philosophy of building exemplary projects and demonstrating the strength of Chinese state-owned enterprises, the team will strictly control safety and quality to fully advance dynamic unit commissioning and grid-connection testing, and will ensure that the Upper Tatay Hydropower Station enters full commercial operation in the year 2026, writing a new chapter for the construction of the Tatay River Basin Green Energy Base and energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Cambodia.
