The small tandem rolling project of Xining Special Steel was prepared when slab tandem mill of Xining Steel was put into production in 1996. After numerous argumentation and negotiation, it was postponed due to lack of funds.
Heavy Machinery Department of CHMC had been tracking this project for many years. Early this year，we learnt Xining Steel purchased a second hand 750 ton bloomer from Tianjin Steel, after dismantling in several months, it was shipped to Xining and being assembled and installed. However, what to be equipped after 750 bloomer, Xining Steel had no idea yet. One month ago, Heavy Machinery Department brought scheme of 6 high semi tandem rolling mill to Xining Special Steel, and presented a project of large rod tandem rolling mill, basically Chinese equipment, reliable technology, economic and practical, and short construction period. This unit can produce rod up to Φ 170 mm. It will increase the varieties, yield and quality, and furthermore, meet the demand of market.
