After 4 years of efforts, as for the 230kV Electricity Transmission and Transformation Project for Burma Yeywa Hydropower Station, three 230kv double-circuit lines and one 230kv singular line had been put into normal operation. The preparation work for another double-circuit line had been finished. The commissioning of primary equipment and secondary units of a newly-built 230kv substation was finished. Most of them were put into operation.
The transmission line and sub-stations were put into operation, indicating the Project came close to the end. By the end of February 2010, 99% payment had been done. CHMC made a great success in the Project.
Since it was initiated in 2006, the project team, under the leadership of CHMC, overcame the obstructions such as the material price rising and RMB appreciation, decreased the Project cost, ensured soomth Project implemented.
This Project broke many records in the Burma electric power industry. It was the first time that OPGW optical fibre communication in Burma national grid, the first time that Burma sub-stations achieved a comprehensive automation. The newly-built BELIN sub-station and MEIKTILA sub-station are the most advanced in technology. The 230kV scale ranks the biggest and the second biggest one in Burma.
During the transmission operation, many Burma national leaders and leaders from Ministry of Electric Power visited the project site for many times and gave their high praises.
In terms of installed capacity, Yeywa Hydropower Station at present is the largest one in Burma . The Transmission Project facilitates the power generation and eases the power shortage in Burma, and builds up good images of CHMC.
