CHMC'S ANOTHER ACHIEVEMENT IN AFRICAN MARKET – Signing the Contract of Transmission Line and Associated Substations in the Republic of South Sudan

On January 21st, 2012, CHMC signed an EPC Contract with Ministry of Electricity and Dams, the Republic of South Sudan, for a Transmission Line and Associated Substations Project covering from the Western Border of Ethiopia to the Nile in South Sudan, Phase I Construction: Jokou-Malakal 400kv Transmission Line and Substations (hereinafter abbreviated as Project).
Works of this project shall be composed of engineering design, equipment procurement, construction, erection and commissioning for 280 KM of 400KV power transmission lines plus two 400KV sub-stations. The signing of this contract marks another great achievement for CHMC’s business development in African market besides the annual capacity 500,000 tons Steel Plant in Ethiopia and other Projects we have implemented so far. It is also a best gift for the Chinese Lunar New Year of Dragon because it makes an encouraging start of Year 2012 for our market exploration in Africa.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Lu Wenjun, President of CHMC warmly received the delegation of Ministry of Electricity and Dams, the Republic of South Sudan led by The Minister Hon. David Deng Atheorbei. Mr. Lu Wenjun highly praised the friendship between China and African Nations followed by brief introduction of CHMC’s development. He also expressed CHMC’s willingness to further participate the infrastructure construction in South Sudan. The Minister replied with a warmly welcome such an excellent state-owned Chinese company enters into South Sudan, and sincerely appreciated the professional expertise that CHMC has offered to the Project.
With a very fruitful discussion, the Final Business Contract was signed by Mr. Lu Wenjun and Hon. David Deng Atheorbei. Mr. Lawrence Loku Móyu, Permanent Secretary of Electricity, Dams Ministry, and Mr. Wang Weiguo, Vice President of CHMC were also present as the witnesses.
