29 January, 2013 saw the acceptance and hand-over of the 1st power transmission line in Sihanoukville, highlighting the Cambodia rural power grid extension project. The acceptance test was successfully carried out and the line well connected to the grid across No.4 road, owing to good coordination and communication between CHMC project team and Cambodian National Power Grid (CNPG).
By far the team has applied for acceptance for dozens of completed lines, expecting a busy period of testing. This marks an important step forward of the project.
The team on site, since starting civil works in May 2012, has overcome various difficulties despite the tough rainy season and won support from the client, local government and the public, worked well with designers, constructors, suppliers and other sub-contractors.
One particular case during execution can display the outstanding performance of CHMC project team: the rubber plantations in Kompong Cham once in the way of the power line (taking up about 50km) was properly cleared, with permits from the plantation owners after tremendous paper and field work of the site team with CNPG, the constructors and local government. This sets a good example for handling cases of plantation owners alike.
