On Sep. 13th, Mr. Lu Wenjun, President of CHMC, was invited to attend the ‘Seminar on China Africa Joint Efforts for Livelihood Improvement’ at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), which was hosted by "China NGO Network for International Exchanges”("CNIE"), and sponsored by BFSU, China Education Association for International Exchange(CEAIE), China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD).
The seminar is themed on ‘facilitating livelihood cooperation, sharing development experience, promoting people-to-people friendship’. And the 70 participants came from 20 African countries, including NGO leaders, experts and scholars, young party leaders, media representatives, as well as Chinese representatives from ministries, CNIE, NGO, universities, media and enterprises.
Mr. Li Jinjun, vice minister of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and deputy director of the CNIE pointed out at his opening address: the Sino-Africa relationship is facing a critical historic moment, and the two parties should embrace the mutual support and help, share experiences, undertake cooperation and enlighten the future.
As a committee member of the CNIE, Mr. Lu Wenjun was invited to make a panel presentation at the seminar discussion of “New Thought for Sino-Africa Non-governmental Cooperation”. He said: CHMC has undertaken many infrastructure projects like water supply, urban pipe network up-gradation, power transmission and transformation, bio-energy, agricultural products processing, and etc. in many Africa countries, such as Guinea, South Sudan, Ethiopia, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and so on. And it’s believed that these projects shall effectively promote the Africa economic development and livelihood improvement, and shall be sincerely welcomed by the African people.
Mr. Lu also pointed out that: improving infrastructure construction, and advocating the agricultural development play pivotal role to impel Africa development at the current stage so as to improve people’s livelihood, in these regards, Chinese enterprises can play more active role in many relevant sectors. By looking into the future of non-governmental cooperation, CHMC are forming and practicing his own development philosophy: 1. highlighting cooperation priorities by actively participating in the cooperation at sectors as: water and power supply, agricultural byproducts processing, water conservancy works; 2. innovating ways of cooperation, CHMC as one state-owned trade and industry enterprise whose main business is project contracting, shall diversify its business scope into trade, investment, service, technology, project contracting; 3. taking on social responsibilities and staying harmonious with local, carrying out public benefit activities, and performing the social responsibility of the enterprise.
Participants from China and Africa exchanged opinions and heartily discussed 2 topics in one day: “Experience Sharing on Sino-Africa Development” and “New Thought for Sino-Africa Non-governmental Cooperation”, which finally reached broad consensus.
