PRESIDENT MR. LU WENJUN ATTENDED THE GROUND-BREAKING CEREMONY OF CAMBODIA PHNOM PENH-BAVET POWER TRANSMISSION PROJECT

On February 27th, the ground-breaking ceremony of the Phnom Pehn-Bavet 115kV Power Transmission EPC Project contracted by CHMC was grandly held at Chrak mteer Substation in Bavet. Over 800 attendants from governments, all walks of life, and local area were present, including Ms. Bu Jianguo; Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia; Mr. SUY SEM, Cambodia's Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy; Mr. KEO ROTTANAK, General Manager of Electricite DU Cambodge(EDC); Governor of Svay Rieng Province; Special Representatives from Cambodia Ministry of Finance and Economy; Mr. Lu Wenjun, President & GM of CHMC; Mr. Zhu Xu, Deputy GM of CHMC; Mr. Wang Weiguo, Deputy GM of CHMC, and etc.

This EPC power transmission project is the 3rd one signed and executed by CHMC in Cambodia by utilizing the Chinese government preferential loan. Scope of the work includes 160km of 115kV transmission line, 2 substations, and the master schedule is expected to be 36 months.

This ceremony was jointly organized by Chinese Embassy and Cambodia government. Ms. Bu Jianguo at her opening address said that: Chinese government attaches great importance to the amicable relationship with Cambodia, and has always been committed to sparing no effort to help Cambodia with its construction and independent development. Chinese enterprises have contracted many big public projects with close bearing on Cambodia’s national economy and people's livelihood. And the construction of these projects embodies the friendship of the two governments and peoples, and more importantly manifests the promising vision and positive actions in terms of economic and trade cooperation and win-win pursuit between the two countries. She also expressed her special appreciation and thanks to CHMC for its outstanding performance in Cambodia power and energy sector, and hope CHMC could make consistent efforts for future projects, bring benefit to Cambodian, and further enhance the people-to-people friendship.

Mr. SUY SEM extended the gratitude to Chinese government for its financial support. He said: most power projects now in Cambodia are invested by Chinese enterprises, which makes China the pacemaker over other countries contributing to Cambodia’s power sector.  He also spoke highly of CHMC for its remarkable performance and conveyed his sincere thanks; he believed that the Project would be crowned with complete success by virtue of CHMC’s rich experiences and qualifications. Mr. KEO ROTTANAK, GM of EDC, also showed his thanks to CHMC who has made great contribution to Cambodia’s power industry.

Mr. Lu Wenjun at his speech introduced the Project development. He indicated that: CHMC, as an experienced, capable, and responsible contractor, shall stick to the on-going principle of amiable cooperation with EDC, and CHMC have the confidence, as well capability to do a good job. He also earnestly promised that CHMC would undertake the Project with high quality, good efficiency in a safe manner, try to make new contribution to the traditional people-to-people friendship between the two countries, and to the good cooperation between CHMC and EDC.

Soon afterwards, the distinguished guests like Ambassador Ms. Bu Jianguo, Minister Mr. SUY SEM together went to the foundation-stone laying place, marking the formal commencement of the Project into execution.

The Project is one favoring public interest by solving the power shortage of Phnom Pehn, its construction displays the strong support and help from Chinese government to Cambodia infrastructure development; and displays CHMC is an aspiring enterprise committed to performing social responsibilities.

The Project is another achievement of CHMC getting involved with the Cambodia local construction, and signifies its effective implementation of the ‘Regional Rolling Development’ Strategy.
