The 1# generator unit invested and constructed by CHMC for Tatay Hydropower Station, has successfully passed the commissioning and connected to the grid at one shot at local time AM 10:08, August 13th, 2014 (Beijing Time AM 11:08). It is almost one year ahead of schedule compared to the time stipulated in the Investment Agreement signed between CHMC and Cambodia government.
CHMC Board Chairman and President Mr. Lu Wenjun, and CHMC Vice President and General Manager of the Cambodia Tatay Company Ltd. Mr. Zhu Xu, visited the site for instruction and coordination at the critical moment before grid connection, and extended sincere thanks and greetings to all the Chinese and Cambodian staffs working on the front line, encouraged all staffs to wipe out obstacles, continue to work hard, and strive for the final goal of the grid connection for 2# and 3# generator units as early as possible.
CHMC contracted the Tatay Hydropower Station in way of BOT (Building, Operate, and Transfer). And the installed capacity is 246MW with 3 sets of 82MW turbine generators. The investment totals USD 540 million with 37 year franchised operation. Since the construction commenced from March 29th, 2010, CHMC has been always attaching full attention to the role of the Owner as dominance and core in this Project, wiped out all kinds of difficulties and obstacles through elaborate organization, effective management and control, as well as active coordination.
All project participants weathered the difficulties of tight schedule, heavy task, complicated geological conditions, complex construction, high technological requirement, etc. And through the well-organized work, meticulous construction, the milestone goals have been achieved as scheduled, such as the “work start and dam closure at the same year”, “the main and auxiliary dams safely passing the rainy season”, and “successful reservoir impoundment”. With careful commissioning, the 1st generators unit realized the grid connection ahead of schedule.
Tatay Hydropower Station is thus far the largest installed capacity Class A hydro-station invested by Chinese company in Cambodia. Its construction completion and power generation has marked CHMC successfully complies with the national strategy of “GOING GLOBALLY”, and it’s also a big breakthrough for CHMC in the field of overseas BOT investment, and promotes its business transformation and upgrading.
