On Mar. 17, 2016, CHMC signed the Laos Xékong Coal-electricity Integration Project EPC Contract, with Laos EDL-Generation Public Company in the capital Vientiane, with a contract value about 2.1 billion USD. CHMC President, Mr. Lu Wenjun, and EDL Managing Director, Mr. Sisavath Thiravong, signed the related documents separately on behalf of CHMC and EDL.
The Laos Xékong Coal-electricity Integration Project is located in Xékong Province, south of Laos. The construction includes one coal mine with an annual production capacity of 3 million tons (raw coal), and one pit-mouth power plant with an total design installation capacity of 700MW (2 sets 350MW generator units). The construction period is 48 months, and the Project is scheduled to use the commercial loan from Export-Import Bank of China. Till now, this project is not only the largest (contract value) EPC general contracting project (monomer project) signed by CHMC, but also the largest (contract value) EPC general contracting construction project (monomer project) in Laos.
The completion of this Project would provide Laos a steady base load generating set, efficiently improve the lack of electricity in the dry season, and is favorable for the safety operation of the Lao state grid. It would further meet the ever-growing demand for the electricity energy in Laos, strongly prompt the local economical and social development, and bring positive effects to Laos and related south-east Asian counties.
CHMC started to track this Project since year 2104, actively participating in the survey and flexibility study compilation, in the Project early stage. The successful signature of this Project is another achievement that CHMC persists in the “Regional Roll” development strategy in its market exploration in Laos, which further establishes the corporation brand of CHMC, consolidates CHMC’s market share in Laos, especially its completion advantages in electrical industry.
CHMC shall, based on the requirements in the Contract, coordinate and make mutual efforts with the user, carry out the related work, to ensure the Project could be successfully implemented.
