On February 2, 2017, at 10:00 am, the Phnom Penh-Bavet 115kV Transmission Line, constructed by CHMC, was successfully switched on, and the electrification of the whole line as well as the newly-built two substations along the line, was successfully accomplished at one time. Till February 5, 2017, at 10:00 am, the continuous 72 hours non-fault operation was achieved, and the electrical power was ceaselessly transmitted from Phnom Penh to the Cambodian south-east area near the border.
This Project was funded by the preferential loan from the Export-Import Bank of China, including one 115kV transmission line with a total length of 160km, newly-built Kampong Soeng Substation and Chrak Mteer Substation, the extension of Phnom Penh South Substation. The transmission line started from Phnom Penh, passing through Kandal Province, Prey Veng Province, Svay Rieng Province, and reached Bavet City near the border.
CHMC top management attached great importance to the Project, since its construction began in November 2014. Mr. Lu Wenjun, CHMC Chairman of Board, Mr. Xiao Ping, CHMC President, Mr. Wang Weiguo, CHMC vice President, came to the Project site several times inspecting and directing the Project work, and put forwards strict requirements on construction safety, quality, progress and cost control. With the high concern from CHMC top management, with the good coordination from functional departments in CHMC, and with the full support from Electrical Engineering Business Unit, the Project team worked hard with one heart, overcame the land acquisition difficulties, kept working during the Chinese New Year Festival, to ensure that the whole line could be smoothly charged, transferred as soon as possible, with a steady performance.
The accomplishment and operation of the transmission line, would great improve the power supply grid in Cambodian south-east area, enhance the power transmission capacity, supply the steady power to millions of residents in Prey Veng Province and Svay Rieng Province, as well as to the two important industry zones. In the past, the Prey Veng Province and Svay Rieng Province could only purchase power abroad, with a high price. The transmission line would contribute great to improve people’s living, the industry development, commerce and trade, in Cambodian border area near Vietnam.
Electricité Du Cambodge (EDC) said high praise and affirmed the successful charged operation at one time. For years, CHMC and EDC cooperated in several projects in long terms, made enormous contributions to Cambodian grid construction. CHMC would act as the friendship emissary between Chinese and Cambodian, work hard with EDC, and promote Cambodian power industry, energy industry to develop steadily, efficiently and economically.
