On April 19, 2017, the Completion Ceremony of the Power Transformation and Transmission Project (Phnom Penh –Bavet, Cambodia) which was contracted and constructed by CHMC, was held in the Kampong Soeng Substation, Prey Veng Province. H.E. Suy Sem,Minister of Cambodia Mines and Energy Ministry, Mr. Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Keo Rottanak, EDC Managing Director, Mr. Zhu Xu, CHMC vice President, Mr. Wang Weiguo, CHMC vice President, Ms. Lv Wei, President of Beijing Sanlian International Investment Co. Ltd., and other more than 1000 guests from Cambodia all circles, were present in the Completion Ceremony.
In the Completion Ceremony, H.E. Keo Rottanak stated that the Power Transformation and Transmission Project (Phnom Penh –Bavet) enlarged the power transmission capacity in Cambodian grid to Prey Veng Province, Svay Rieng Province and the partial area in Kandal Province; it would transmit a high quality, steady, efficient and sustainable power to tens of thousands of households in the three provinces mentioned above. In the Project, the transmission line spanned 4 rivers, and the power tower spanning the Mekong River was 106.2 meter high, 1028 meter wide, which till now was the highest and span-widest power tower in Cambodia. H.E. Keo Rottanak expressed his thanks to all parities related to the Project construction, and said that EDC would take full advantages of the opportunity in the new infrastructure construction, to make more benefits for Cambodia state economy and Cambodia people.
In his Speech, Mr. Wang Weiguo said that the Project construction started from February 27, 2014, and it was successfully loaded with power and transferred to EDC for operation in February 2017 by a highest speed and excellent performance, with the concerns and supports from all parties. CHMC would keep a close cooperation with related parties in Cambodia, further strengthen the Cambodian power infrastructure construction, to make the due contribution to the Target “Year 2030 Lights Each Village and Country in Cambodia”.
Mr. Xiong Bo stated that under the leading of Cambodian government headed by Premier H.E. Hun Sen, Cambodian power industry had made great achievements, from the former very low level; Chinese government and Chinese enterprises positively joined in the Cambodian power industry construction; these power industry construction and operation effectively relieved the power shortage in Cambodia; China and Cambodia currently was strengthening their cooperation in the “One Belt, One Road” Strategy, and China would keep supporting to Cambodia in the power industry and infrastructure construction, in its scope.
H.E. Suy Sem stated that Cambodian government was increasing the investment to the power industry by several channels, to promote the power infrastructure construction; the completion of the Power Transformation and Transmission Project (Phnom Penh –Bavet), totally solved the problem that the two provinces had to import power supply from Vietnam in the past years. H.E. Suy Sem sincerely congratulated CHMC for the completion of the Project, and declared the formal operation of the Project.
H.E. Suy Sem, representing Cambodia Mines and Energy Ministry, as well as EDC, awarded CHMC and its Project team the certificate of merit, to praise CHMC’s outstanding contribution to Cambodia energy construction.
After the speeches, Minister H.E. Suy Sem and Ambassador Mr. Xiong Bo presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the main control building of the Substation.
