On February 23, the Battambang-Siem Reap 230kV power transmission and transformation line, as well as the substation (all contracted and constructed by CHMC), successfully went into operation at one time. It includes the Battambang-Siem Reap 230kV power transmission line in the South-west Loop Line Project, and the new-built 230kV Siem Reap Substation and the extension of the 230kV Battambang Substation in the Eastern Loop Line Project (Phase Ⅱ).
Ph.D. PRAING Chulasa, Deputy Managing Director of Electricité du Cambodge (EDC), was present in site and witnessed the test and operation process. He showed his thanks to all who participated in the construction, and gave a high appraisal to the hard-working style of the Project Department.
Cambodia enjoys a stable political environment and a rapid economic development recent years. As the second metropolis and a major tourist city in Cambodia, the power supply in Siem Reap always relies on importing from other countries which seriously restricts the development of the related local industries. After the signatures of South-west Loop Line Project Contract and the Eastern Loop Line Project (Phase Ⅱ)Contract, CHMC Project Department fully cooperated with the owner, overcame the difficulties in the land acquisition and the hard working during the raining season, and accomplished the construction ahead of the schedule with a high quality and high efficiency, which relieved the power shortage in Siem Reap and promoted the local economic and social development.
Up to now, the Battambang-Siem Reap 230kV power transmission and transformation kept a continuous and steady operation.
