From April 22 to 24, 2019, CHMC Board Chairman and President Mr. Xiao Ping arrived in the Philippines and attended the Manila Conference, Boao Forum for Asia. It was the first than the Conference was held in the Philippines since the foundation of the Boao Forum for Asia.

 

The theme of the Conference was 'Concerted Action For Common Development in the New Era”. House Speaker of the Philippines and Director of the Boao Forum for Asia, Ms. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and Vice Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia, Mr. Zhou Xiaochuan, delivered the keynote speeches.  Former Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Director of the Boao Forum for Asia, Mr. Surakiart Sathirathai, the co-organizers of the Conference and the Chairman of the Federation of Philippine and Chinese Merchants, Mr. Lin Yuqing, Deputy Director of State-owned Assets Management and Supervision Commission of the State Council of China, Mr. Ren Hongbin, Vice-governor of Chinese Fujian Province, Ms. Guo Ningning, the charge d'affaires of Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, Mr. Tan Qíngsheng,representatives of Chinese entrepreneurs, separately made speeches in the Conference. About 500 representatives from all walks of life attended the Conference.  

 

As the host of the Boao Forum for Asia, China in the recent years increasingly linked to the Philippine economy. The Cooperation and communication between two countries in trade, infrastructure construction, agriculture and other fields, would further contribute to the promotion of the relation between the two countries.

 

During the Conference, Mr. Xiao Ping met the new Chinese Economic and Business Counsellor in the Philippines, Mr. Jiang Jianjun. He reported CHMC’s current business development situation and recent work scheme in the Philippines to Mr. Jiang Jianjun. Mr. Jiang Jianjun expressed his support to the business development and hoped that CHMC would start the project implementation as soon as possible.
