On February 20, 2020, based on the Contract stipulations, the Project Progress Inspection Committee of Electricite du Laos (EDL), made a site examination on the overall progress of the Laos Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Project contracted and constructed by CHMC, and finally verified that the Project had completed 50% construction schedule as planned.

On the morning of February 20，Mr. Phathana Thongdee，from the Project Progress Inspection Committee, led the examining staffs to the Project site, and carefully inspected the construction progress of the dam, the headrace tunnel and the power plant. In the afternoon, CHMC Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Project Department and the Project Progress Inspection Committee held a meeting. In the meeting, CHMC made a detailed report on the project construction progress, quality control, safety and environmental protection, and its fulfilment of the social responsibility, etc., to the Project Progress Inspection Committee. Mr. Phathana Thongdee affirmed CHMC’s achievements in the construction of Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Project, and showed his thanks to all staffs in the Project Department for their hard work. Mr. Phathana Thongdee stated that it only took 11 months for CHMC to complete the construction advance, from the overall progress 30% to 50%. He believed that under the elaborate management by CHMC Project Department, the Project would achieve the major nodes on schedule with a guaranteed quality, and achieve the construction goal.

After the meeting, the Project Progress Inspection Committee, the Project supervisor from the owner side, and CHMC together signed the verification certification document which stated that the construction of Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Project had reached 50% overall progress.

All staffs in Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Project Department worked hard and worked together in the Site, overcame many difficulties, did a good job in preventing and controlling the epidemic of the new coronary pneumonia, meanwhile, they focused on the Project implementation, strictly controlled the construction safety and quality, achieved the two goals of preventing and controlling the epidemic, as well as achieving the project construction progress at the same time. The accomplishment of the Project overall progress verification, laid a solid foundation for CHMC to achieve the construction goal as scheduled, with the guaranteed quality.
