Recently, Cambodian Tatay Hydropower Limited (abbreviated as CTHL hereinafter), a subsidiary of CHMC, accomplished the Phase Ⅳ Certified Emission Reduction(CERs) trading overseas. The trading price was the top one in the carbon market during the past 1 year, and was also the highest trading price of all certified CERs transactions for CTHL so far. The trading achieved both social and economic benefits.

In Year 2020, affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, the third-party auditors were unable to arrive at the site for verification. Under the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism, the process of the verification and trading work of CTHL’s Certified CERs Project (Phase Ⅳ), lagged behind.

In order to promote the first inclusion period verification and transaction of CTHL’s Phase IV (the last phase) CERs to be completed as soon as possible, and to start the updating work of CTHL’s second CERs inclusion period earlier, CTHL actively communicated with the consulting firm and the third-party verification organization, and timely submitted the electronic materials required for review. In the end of October 2020, the third-party verification agency auditors completed CTHL’s Phase IV CERs verification online and then delivered them to the United Nations for review.

On December 16,2020,the Executive Council, under the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism, approved and issued CTHL’s Phase IV CERs verification, 850,130.00 tons. Till now, the accumulated carbon emission reduction of CTHL reached 3,602,300.00 tons.

Under the global carbon emission reduction trend, CHMC invested and constructed the clean energy hydropower station in Tatay River in Cambodia, actively participated in and took actions against the global climate change, contributed to the green earth and human development, which embodied a high degree of social responsibility. CTHL’s carbon emission reduction trading experience under the Clean Development Mechanism Project (CDM), also acquired and accumulated experiences for the Upper Tatay Hydropower Station to gain extra carbon emission reduction income.
