The Construction of Water Inlet Tower 1
The Construction of Water Inlet Tower 2
On March 29, 2021, after 48 hours continuous pouring, the Water Inlet Tower of CHMC Laos Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Station, rising from Elevation 1044 m to 1046 m, in which 760 cubic meters of concrete was used, wholly reached the design elevation.
As the “Water Entrance” of Laos Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Station, the Water Inlet Tower lies in the right side upstream of the dam, and it is an important unit works in the power station. The water of Nam Ngum 4 River flows into the Water Inlet Tower, through the penstock, finally reaches the plant to generate power. The Water Inlet Tower is of reinforced concrete structure with a tower base elevation of 1009.5 m, a tower top elevation of 1046 m and the tower height of 36.5 m. It took 434 days since the beginning of the pouring, with the total 10,450 cubic meters of normal concrete pouring, and the production and installation of the steel bar works of 410 tons.
The Water Inlet Tower had a complex structure. The construction process once faced with narrow site, cross three-dimensional operation, high temperature and high altitude operation and other challenges. CHMC Project Department continued to actively refine the task indicators, and carried out quality and safety technical disclosure at various levels, strictly controlled the position pouring process, rationally allocated resources, and implemented the on-site work control responsibility system. Through unremitting efforts, the Water Inlet Tower reached the design elevation, which laid a solid foundation for the flood control in Year 2021.
