CHMC Tatay Hydropower Participates in Lancang-Mekong Countries'Typical Small River Basin Comprehensive Management Demonstration

  On June 18, 2023, Cambodian Tatay Hydropower Limited (hereinafter referred to as ' Tatay Hydropower'), a subsidiary of CHMC, together with the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources of China (hereinafter referred to as 'Yangtze River Science Institute'), and the Government of Kok Kong Province of Cambodia as well as the government of Mobang County, jointly organized the Lancang-Mekong Countries' Typical Small River Basin Comprehensive Management Demonstration (Phase III) Project (hereinafter referred to as 'the Project') and the Handover Ceremony of Shun 'an Bridge. Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, Mr. Zhao Haiyan, Governor of Kok Kong Province, Mrs. Mithona Phuthong, Governor of Mobang County, Mrs. Tuot Hatima, Chief Engineer of Yangtze River Science Institute, Mr. Xu Ping, Executive Deputy General Manager of Tatay Hydropower, Mr. Zhao Wensheng, and nearly 200 villagers from Russey Chrum, attended the ceremony.

   

  Mr. Zhao Haiyan said at the ceremony that the project, which was undertaken by Yangtze River Science Academy and implemented by Tatay Hydropower, had effectively improved the drinking water safety level of more than 100 primary school teachers and students in Mobang County through the construction of reverse osmosis pure water treatment system, rolling dam and fruit tree irrigation system in Russey Chrum Village. It solved the practical problems of irrigation difficulties and low water resource utilization in the dry season of more than 40 hectares of fruit forests downstream, and made positive contributions to the continuous benefit of local residents and economic development.

   

  Mr. Xu Ping introduced the implementation of the project promoted the construction of local water resources protection and green development, and teachers and students in Russey Chrum Village would drink 'safe water', and the fruit trees had water for irrigation in the dry season, and local residents' income was guaranteed.

   

  Mrs. Mithona Phuthong pointed out that the comprehensive management project of typical small river basins in Lancang-Mekong countries continuously improved people's livelihood, promoted local development, and built Kok Kong Province a beautiful, comfortable and attractive home.

   

  Meanwhile the Shun 'an Bridge was completed, which was built by Tatay Hydropower for the local area. The name of the bridge implies the good expectations of local residents for good weather and safe travel. It is located in the Cardamom Mountain Pass. The location is important, is the only way to connect Mobang County and Kok Kong City. Mr. Zhao Wensheng said that Tatay Hydropower was honored to undertake the construction of the two projects. Since its establishment, Tatay Hydropower has been adhering to the concept of green development and actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. Tatay Hydropower will continue to deepen the clean energy industry in Cambodia to benefit the local people and open up a green future.

   

  In addition, around the concept of water conservation and green development followed by the project, brochures were distributed and prizes were awarded at the ceremony. The villagers actively participated in the interactive sessions, and the atmosphere was warm. While witnessing the handover, they also enhanced their understanding of the project and improved their enthusiasm for using and maintaining the project.

   

  In the future, Tatay Hydropower will continue to adhere to the original intention of people-oriented cooperation, practice the concept of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, publicize water resources protection and green development, and contribute to promoting the lasting friendship between China and Cambodia.
