On September 5, 2024, CHMC Cambodian Upper Tatay Hydropower Station successfully completed the water diversion tunnel.
The total length of the tunnel is 7297 meters, with a construction branch tunnel and excavation construction in three working faces. Since the excavation construction began on March 29, 2023, it took 527 days and was completed, 132 days ahead of the total schedule.
The geological and hydrological conditions of the tunnel are complicated, and the surrounding rock of the tunnel is mainly sandstone, argillous siltstone and silty mudstone, with local fractures and smooth mud film. During the construction process, Upper Tatay Hydropower, a subsidiary of CHMC, carefully organized and scientifically managed, strengthened the construction and connection management of various processes such as measurement, drilling, blasting and slag extraction, strictly followed the principle of "short penetration, weak blasting, strong support and frequent measurement", strictly controlled the safety and quality, scientifically and rationally optimized the construction, and ensured the accurate penetration of the water transfer tunnel in advance. It set a new record of 253.3 meters monthly penetration of single working face in the excavation construction of Upper Hydropower Station.
The smooth penetration of the diversion tunnel lays a solid foundation for the subsequent concrete transfer construction and the completion of the whole project period as planned. CHMC will continue to make unremitting efforts to promote the realization of each node of the project on schedule, and make new contributions to the high-quality development.
