On March 10, 2024,the concrete pouring of the last bin structure of the 5# hole of the diversion tunnel of CHMC Laos Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Station Project, was completed, which marked the completion of the concrete lining of the diversion tunnel and achieved another major milestone in the construction of the Project.
The diversion tunnel of the Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Station in Laos is the key route part of the whole Project, with a total length of 17.55 kilometers. There are 8 construction branch tunnels in the whole line, which are difficult to excavate, with a long construction time and high lining strength. In the face of difficult problems such as tight construction period, heavy tasks and complex and diverse geological conditions, CHMC Project Department of Laos Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Station, actively communicated with the owner, the designer and the construction subcontractors, adjusted and optimized the construction plan in a timely manner, overcame the difficulties such as large deformation of the tunnel and the obstruction of the flow of personnel and materials caused by the epidemic, and ensured the safe and orderly progress of the lining construction.
The concrete lining of the diversion tunnel of Nam Ngum 4 Hydropower Station in Laos has been successfully completed, providing basic guarantee for the next step of the diversion tunnel filling water, and laying a solid foundation for the successful completion of the Project and grid-connected power generation.
